He began to teach them that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected...and be killed... and after three days, rise again! Mark 8 verse 31

What is the Bible and why read it?
Many Christians, after getting saved, never gain a full understanding of who God really is. They go through life without a clue as to how they should be living, all the while never realizing that they probably have a book on their shelf (or at their local Wal-mart!) that tells the entire story of God. God begins His story in the first book of the Bible, Genesis. He tells of how he created the earth and everything you see (Genesis 1). He tells of how sin entered the world (Genesis 3). He tells of how he had to flood the earth because of it's complete wickedness and how one man, Noah, and his family were found righteous in the eyes of God and how God saved them from the flood (Genesis 5-10). He tells how we got our different languages and cultures. (Genesis 11) He tells the story of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the fathers of the country of Isreal, and how God chose this nation to spread His message of hope, the same hope you have found (or are seeking). (Genesis 13-36) He ends Genisis with the story of one of the most faithful men in all the Bible, Joseph. (Genesis 37-50) Pick up your bible and read these stories. God wouldn't have included them in the Bible if He didn't expect us to read them. Read it slowly and ask God for understanding, He will bless you indeed. Don't ignore that hunger that you feel inside for the Bible; feed it.

Are Trials Always Bad??
As you come to this site, I thank you for taking the time to visit. There are just a few things I would like to touch on, as you decide to accept Christ as Savior or if you already have, and have questions. For those that are making decisions on salvation, remeber this: Jesus came to this world free from sin, then for 33 years He remained sinless. At the end of His life, as he hung on a cross, He took you're sins, my sins, and the sins of the world on His shoulders. And by the blood he spilled, we are saved! Those that have accepted Christ, I congratulate you on you're salvation from Hell. You have made the right decision, but now is a time that you must consume yourself in prayer, and in God's word. Right now, Satan is pretty ticked off that he lost you're soul, and he's gonna try anything to trip you up. But don't fear, the bible says in James 1 verse 2-4, "Whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. For when your faith is tested, your endurace has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything." I am writing this because most Christians want the Christian life without the hard teachings of the Bible. I have no idea what you are going through, but if it seems hard then chances are God is giving you a chance to have hope. Sometimes Christians get down because we get laughed at. Some people reading this column are going through a split or a divorce in their family. For some of the older readers it could be financial troubles. Whatever the case is,we have a chance to build our character up! It's hard, but that's God's way of teaching us to be like Jesus! Let's not fool ourselves into thinking that we have shared in His sufferings when our first reaction to pain is cursing God! The question for us as humans isn't whether or not we will suffer on earth. The question is how will we respond. When I was about 19, I made my decision. If knowing God means suffering right now, then I want to suffer. If I have to live the most painful life ever, meanwhile losing all of my friends and family, it would be worth it to know and become like Christ. This is sometimes called "counting the cost." I wonder if you have counted the cost of being a Christian. We all want to have hope, but none of us want to have trials. Again, we want to live the Christian life without the hard teachings of the Bible. Grab a hold of God, and hold on tight! He is going to rearrange your life if you want him to. By Jeremy Walker
